There’s a big difference between hating what Russia, and by the extension, the Russian people, are doing, and hating every single Russian individually. It’s like hating the patriarchy, but not hating every single individual man.

Yes, collectively it’s their fault, but you can’t hold Yevgeni the farmer from Sertov, whose son got drafted against his will, personally responsible for Russian genocide in Ukraine.

You can definitely blame Baris from Moscow, who drives around with a “3 weeks to Berlin” bumper sticker and who has a bronze bust of Putin in his bedroom.

Russian is a music, a food, a sense of style, a story. Russian is culture not the current tyrany.

Why let the fascists steal that from the people? I understand your sentiment but I’ll be honest it enrages me.

It’s like a person saying that any black that doesn’t join a gang isn’t really black. They can’t see a non-violent black as a member of that race. You ignore the problem in favor of factionalism. Black people are not inherently violent, it’s an economic and political situation. Apply the same logic to Russians. See the obvious reasons for the current situations. It’s not the people, it’s their tyrant. A tyrant they cannot choose.

Black does not mean the worst of their people, Russian does not mean the worst of theirs. It’s a signifier of culture, and ethnic origin. That is all

Make it the other way around and see the progressives as Russians and the others as not Russians. The progressives will thank you and the others will be annoyed. Win win
