I watched a few streamers play a Kaizo Ironmon challenge, and the ROM hack some of them used had this addition that added pools of blood behind the Pokemon Centre whenever you killed (“released”) a Pokemon. Viridian City was drowning in blood during some runs because they caught so many new Pokemon and released / killed the old ones.
