I found more inspiration from Public Enemy, Corporate Avenger, and Run the Jewels

I remember he had some kind of b-list level “hit” song in the 90s I think? Can’t remember what it was.

Recently saw Circle Jerks on stage and Keith Morris was holding some kind of punk rock in the USA history lesson where he mentioned them as THE influence. He’s of course not biased :D

hadn’t heard of them but they played as an opener to a concert I went to. rather disappointed in the vocals (which consisted mostly of drunk shouting), though the backing band was obviously good. perhaps I’m not punk enough to appreciate it though

Same experience for us. We went to see the Descendants (who were awesome!) and they played before them. He was hard to understand and seemed quite confused from time to time. But he’s nearly 70 now so… ¯_(ツ)_/¯

On the other hand, negative approach played before Circle Jerks and they definitely delivered.

“Liar” by The Rollins Band is likely what you’re thinking of.

It is not that great lol. Henry Rollins has done way more interesting things than that before and since.
