I like having a term to refer to female x female relationships specifically. Maybe in part because if I call myself “gay” people might think that I like men because they might see me as a man. I’m not a fan of how the meanings of “gay” and “straight” are so context-dependent in general. It might be nicer to have commonly used terms that just mean male-attracted and female-attracted. In the meantime, I appreciate that the lesbian label fits me and is clear on both fronts (about my identity and the identity of those I’m attracted to).
