For me, the special spot only works if I sit there and loudly say “I am putting $thing in $spot, I am putting $thing in $spot, I am putting $thing in $spot, remember this for $later_date!”
My brains cache gets wiped every time my neurodivergent ass walks through a doorway, so recently I started holding an invisible [ whatever object I’m looking for ] before going into the target room. Box? Cup? Keys? I dont have a clue what I walked in here for but my hands do!
I curse past me frequently for “I’ll remember this special place later because it is so unusual.”
