“Imperialism is the maintaining and extending of power over foreign nations, particularly through expansionism, employing both hard power and soft power.” (Thanks Wikipedia)
I was in the army too and kept wondering why US has military posts & bases all over Europe & Asia etc, but other countries don’t have military bases on US soil 🤔
Nice to finally have a word for that. Imperialism. Seems kinda awful & corrupt. Kinda like that board game “RISK” in which the objective I suppose is to take over other countries with your military presence.
There are some countries with training bases in the USA. Germany, Italy, UK, Netherlands, and Signapore who have one in Idaho of all places.
Wow really? All 5 of those countries in Idaho??
No and looking into it deeper, I was lowercase a accurate but not capital T true. While these countries do have permanant training presences in the USA, all of these are bases owned and operated by the USA. The place in Idaho is Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho which is a training base for Signapore and seemingly Qatar now?
But in short, I was wrong. These are US bases that host permanant presences of foreign military. These are not owned by the other nations.
