You have more self awareness than most people today. If you feel like you need to be nicer to the people around you then I say go for it. We need all the positive energy we can get in this world and age and we need to treat each other better if we want a better society.
But ‘nice’ is not a binary. Smells that might attract adorable puppies might not be so flattering in the eyes of a potential lover.
