I made this comment because self censorship is a problematic pattern that should have no place on the Fediverse. Saying nothing is equivalent to endorsement, to which I cannot morally oblige.

Thank you for your perspective, I’d like to hear more of your thoughts on the matter.

Every time someone doesn’t use a swear this comment is expected. Some people don’t want to swear idk let them not?

I’ve seen similar comments under freaking, I’m pretty sure, too. So…

If they don’t want to swear they could say “freaking” rather than fucking like a good Christian middle schooler. They still want to swear, they’re just cowards who also want algorithmic engagement on corporate social media, and that’s the issue people have.

Anytime someone uses a swear, nothing. Anytime someone doesn’t spell the entire word out, this bizarre dog piling. What is with this weird mandated speech? Just let people do rust they want.

Yeah, you’ve basically understood it. I don’t mind people swearing. I don’t mind people not swearing. In both cases, because I don’t mind people doing whatever they want. People who want to swear, but also feel like they can’t/shouldn’t, are the ones who self censor. They’re being inauthentic to themselves and everyone else. I find it sad at best, unsettling and dystopian at worst.
