🇬🇧: “EU funds do help KDE”
Details, links, context
I got these propaganda items for acing a quiz at a local EU outreach event. “Kde” (how to pronounce; enjoy the Cinderella song) means “Where” and “Kde fondy EU pomáhají” is “Where EU funds help”, and it’s the name of a campaign highlighting local sponsored projects (mainly heritage conservation and infrastructure investment because that’s visible and under the purview of the Ministry of Regional Development that also sponsored the campaign). However, the capitalization makes it seem like it refers to the KDE Foundation (which makes some really cool Linux-focused software), translating to “EU funds do help KDE” (Czech word order is flexible so it’s grammatically correct but conveys emphasis on the verb). It’s true by the way, with a €1M investment this year.

- The other puzzle full of stereotypes I’m glad I didn’t get
There are small businesses by libertarians who proudly reject EU subsidies. This is largely because of their misappropriation by the largest Czech agricultural conglomerate Agrofert previously owned by our then- and now-serving PM. They literally defended their entitlement with a video (CZ + hard EN subs) basically saying “We are not a monopoly! We only own some 4% of arable land!” (unsuccessfully, thankfully). Despite its main focus being public works, I hope this campaign improves the way people see subsidies…
Edit: I tried to make this edit too, pointing out the similarities to the Plasma logo, specifically using KDE Connect, KDE Plasma and Krita. Damn, being used to GIMP I struggled so much…
