halloween is basically just for kids here, since it was only introduced in 1997. it’s all commercial. when i was a kid the time to dress up and go around asking for candy was during easter, when the witches are said to fly to their secret mountain hideout.
as such, i’ve never really come in contact with the more… mundane? traditions. are you just roasting pumpkin seeds, or can you do more with them? roasted pumpkin seeds are great.
Just roasting, I grew up in the middle of nowhere but when I was really young our parents drove us into the city to go trick or treating after dinner at a Hawaiian place though I don’t think they had anything to do with Halloween. As we got older (and I mean like 10) we started to help decorate a haunted house that the church kids would come to after a much lamer imo trunk or treat. Sadly the first time I lived in an area where I would get trick or treaters was during COVID.
i’m not much for visitors personally but if you want them and can’t get them that’s sad. has it picked back up again since then or is there a noticeable difference in the amount of people out and about on halloween since covid?
I’d settle for having a conversation, like an actual conversation not a braindead “how’s it going, good, you”.
what’ve you been up to lately?
Carving pumpkins and cooking seeds today of course
