“Now, Lou Ann, life can sometimes throw you a curveball. When that happens, there are two things you can do: Cry, and that’s the path that you’ve chosen Or you can not cry. Instead of letting it out, try holding it in. Every time you have a feeling, just stick it into a pit inside your stomach and never let it out.” -hank hill

I think it’s slang for ignoring your problems and compressing them into a tiny ball of stress deep inside your mind instead of doing anything to alleviate the suffering.

    The Cure!

Back in the mid-to-late 80s when The Cure came to town, a buddy of mine didn’t have the money left over after buying his ticket to buy any official merch, but he did have enough to buy a bootleg t-shirt in the parking lot, with a tiny The Cure decal cheaply ironed into the breast pocket.

Next day in school, many were sporting their brand new t-shirts with THE CURE HEAD ON THE DOOR NORTH AMERICAN TOUR 1986 or whatever it was.
A stoner guy approached my friend with his tiny “The Cure” t-shirt and the exchange went something like this:

“Hey man… where’d you get the shirt?”
    “At the Cure concert.”
“Oh for sure, for sure…” as he turned and walked away.

There are some unique reasons that men are more lonely, even if we all are as well. They don’t show weakness to their friends or help each other out as much emotionally. The vast majority of men have no support network for this sort of thing. The bros will help out materially, but less so emotionally.

Capitalism is still more to blame than gender for lonely men, but they have an extra disadvantage. We all need societal change, but men have a harder time finding that sense of belonging than women. It’s how gangs, militaries, and fascists lure in boys. They promise a place for men, even if it’s as a disposable tool. Liberals used to promise men a place as successful workers, but that place has disappeared with the middle class, while fascists get to blame feminists for capitalism’s effects.

Man, it’s cool to see some empathy around. With the bear thing it’s dried up quite a bit.

Maybe you should express empathy for the women saying they’d rather chill with a wild animal because of their traumatic experiences.

Do you mean the activity about the question or the question itself?

I haven’t engaged, so I don’t know how mean people have really been getting, but that topic was more about, like, a verifiable sociological reality among women. I wouldn’t take it personally.

I have a former friend, that turned fascist due to incel reasons.

Societal exceptions will also make men’s safety networks way less efficient. My family helped me way less financially than any of my female relatives to avoid “spoiling me”. I just smart enough to realize it wasn’t the welfare state that did this.
