Okay obviously this is fake but I do remember way back when I jailbroke my IPod Touch 2 and there was a system hack that made in all in-app purchases free. I was young so I didn’t really use it for anything except getting all the addons for my 2D motorcycle racing game but I do wonder what would have happened with more real monetary purchases

Does anyone remember that Cydia thing?

another fun one was the nintendo 3DS store, which allowed you to redownload any game you had a “receipt” for. receipts were stored in a secure enclave of the cpu. after the secure enclave was cracked you could add receipts in, but you still needed a real one for validation to work… until they reverse-engineered the algorithm and allowed you to generate receipts on the fly while browsing the store.

i think it’s just a proxy that returns “yes this is purchased” whenever the app asks the app store.

If the validation of payment of physical goods sold is done on your machine, they have bigger problems to worry about.
