Disco Elysium literally shows you how much you can get addicted to drugs and spend all your money and health on them even when you are homeless.

It doesn’t make character addicted, it makes you -the player- addicted by showing how little side effects of drugs may seem at first. And how destructive the cumulative harm can be.

    Genius game design tbh.

ZA/UM stole the IP from its original developers and the original creators don’t get a dime from any sales. Maybe consider obtaining the game through other means.

It is such a horrible story.

Dude spent his entire life creating this world to play a game with his friends– it was his baby. They finally get to share that experience with the world through a video game where their own characters make appearances.

Only for the entire “rights” to that world ripped away from him because some shitty company has papers saying he can’t use it anymore.

At least one of the group is making a spinoff but I hear there is still some controversy because of a schism in the group. The one making it was a player but the DM who created the world and stories isn’t part of the new project for a reason I do not remember.
