Apparently humping in train terms refers to the act of using a small hill at the decoupling point to force the cars apart using gravity. Supposedly this is hard on the cars and their contents especially when coming to a stop afterward.
“Humping” in this context means pushing the trailers onto a small hill and releasing them one by one to send them onto different tracks to make up new trains.
I mean ok fine but what is the car actually for and why can’t I hump it?

It’s efficient but it can damage delicate cars or fragile contents, hence the warning.
Its the track inspection boxcar its full of cameras.
Ah, so if they hump it the stress might break/misalign the cameras and all that tasty equipment?
