We are literally destroying our planet and the water ww drink to feed AIs, not to help us cure all diseases, educate our population, help us develop clean way to power our present and our future, but to wank to Louis Griffin. Literally something many of us have been able to do quite succesfully for many years without the assistance of AI.
I’m not trying to support AI but I’m pretty sure the water that is “lost” to data centers is due to evaporation, which would return it to the water cycle. I think the rest of the water use is “closed loop”, so minimal losses.
The problem is that datacenters are using potable water and/or water in areas that aren’t flush with the stuff. For example, datacenters in Texas where rainfall ia sporadic at best.
I think in the long term AI is going to save the planet via mechanisms exactly like this; reducing the population level to something the planet can support not by culling existing humans but by preventing new humans from being born in the first place! This is the most gentle of all apocalypse, the one where humanity just packs it in and stops messing with the planet.

Yeah, I don’t know how to make those so I just accept the alternate reality you are proposing despite knowing it’s fictitious :/

That’s definitely less than ideal.
Move them all to Scotland.
