In the grim darkness of the far future there is only Far Side comics.
Amazing. Of all the wild mashups of media I could possibly see myself imagine, The Far Side and Warhammer 40k didn’t even make the list.
I don’t know if I’ve been this impressed before. Like it’s a low bar but still
I had a vague headcanon that, within the wh40k lore, 95% of the horrific threats to humankind are made-up by the Adeptus Ministorum to keep the factory worlds in line, and what they call ‘Chaos’ and describe as winged monsters is really just a rebellion against the imperium by people who are realising they’ve had the wool pulled over their eyes for millenia.
Nice!
This could like make it sort of a multilevel campaign (rpg or wargame) where you have fight battles inside the illusion and outside of it.
That greater demon of tzeentch is really someone who is trying to free you wtf
Ooh yeah that sounds cool, kinda like They Live but reversed
Gimme da sawce, Im humger.

Original comic is from The Far Side by Gary Larson, 03/26/1993
Looks like the characters from the original comic have been edited into this image:

Which is from the 1st edition Warhammer 40 K Rogue Trader rulebook, page 172 (thanks to this reddit comment)
Love this depiction of the throne. Looks more medieval torture+cyberpunk than that one other more famous image
From what I know the god emperor was a secular man who hated the idea of worshipping god, people liked him so much that of course he was forced into being an immortal god. So the torture chamber comparison is appropriate.
Tanks baws. :3
idk :(
On the flip side, Eddie did not just imagine being the mascot for Iron Maiden
“After graduating high school, Eddie drew this while weeping.”
