“tex this up”. Man, I love this.
Back in my first year of university, I used some neat software for one of my Biophysical chemistry assignments (I used Geogebra, because the assignment expected us to draw lines of best fit by hand, rather than having it automatically do it by regression. Geogebra can do the auto kind of line, but I was also able to draw one by eyeballing it. I love that software so much, especially because I learned of it through an extremely nerdy high school maths teacher).
Anyway, the guy teaching the class was a chemistry PhD, and I vividly remember how he responded to my work: with a tone that was equal parts disgust and begrudging respect, he said “Ugh, I bet you’re one of the people who will write their thesis in LaTeX.”
At that point, I did not know what LaTeX was, but I knew in my heart that yes, I was absolutely one of those kinds of people. And so I went out and learned LaTeX.
I just wish you could edit the equations in geogebra in their latex form, instead of the “helpful” wysiwyg editor that makes working with parentheses an absolute pain.
I assume this wouldn’t work on Twitter
For this call to authority fallacy subversion thing to work there it would need to be an image with red bold text, an eagle/automatic rifle and liberal (lol) usage of a free Photoshop grunge brush pack for them to think it’s an official communication
Extra points if it’s an infographic that uses rifle bullets as bars on a chart
