People ask me why I don’t like working on the subacute / general side of the unit and weirdly enough the creams is part of it. Technically it’s all routine non-oral medications like inhalers and insulin but the amount of patients over there who are literally mostly just depressed because they have age related chronic pain and have like 3 different creams for their knees and backs and like no flexibility so I gotta get down on the ground to butter these people and because they’re in pain all the time they’re mega cranky and tell me I’m doing the leg buttering wrong like mf butter your own legs then! Nah give me acute where they just scream in my face and try to punch me. At least I’m not getting yelled at while ALSO having to butter some legs. That and the amount of people on general that check into the psych ward voluntarily then complain that it’s uncomfortable. I’ve never gone voluntarily. I’d rather have to run around doing my best to comfort and console someone that’s actually involuntarily stuck there.
