Especially governments and their agencies need to share info on as many public forums as possible. Like, even if you only post on Twitter, it only takes a simple bot to repost on mastodon or even blue sky right?
At some point, they will have to realize they mostly address fascists and bots on X. Not much audience to lose.
I don’t get why so many organizations still post to X. All sane people left years ago, so only the insane use it.
I see this take only on Lemmy. Any time I’ve asked anyone IRL and there’s a good chance they don’t even know what bluesky is, much less Nitter or the fediverse.
Have the gov and most parties announce they switch to Bluesky and/or the Fediverse, and suddenly journalists will talk about it, and many more people will hear of it.
Note: far-right parties will tend to stick on X, because algos favor them, and that’s where their audience is. If they don’t switch, I won’t complain…

Yep, and sector. Twitter active usage dropped a lot after musk bought it but then rebounded a bit, so it’s still in the hundreds of millions from what I can work out
Maybe not insane, but only dumb or — at best — clueless people still use Twitter at this point.
I think if you stick to this you end up with a No True Scotsman. There are lots of obviously smart people on Twatter, they just happen not to agree on this one thing

Oh let me tell you. Cause people beyond the western sphere are unaware of the tom foolery Elon has done all over the years.
Practically everywhere the liberals have a very small political voice. Political priorities are cut very differently between the parties than it is in the west. Because of this, very few people are even giving these issues a voice. Most people aren’t even aware, and if they are, it’s just background noise to them. Like yeah, Elon did a nazi salute in the white house, what does a guy from Bangladesh have to do with that?
People blame Americans for not knowing about the world, but pretty much everywhere people are just as unaware of what’s happening outside their country, as most Americans are, in fact far more. Sometimes as a non American I’ve felt people hold Americans to a really high standard in this regard.
A lot of organizations are local. I get international ones, but western politicians and local orgs do lot have that excuse.
And I don’t get why we don’t combat climate change. People are dumb as fuck and corpos are greedy.
I don’t get why they’re not at least using Bluesky. It has its issues and I would rather they use Mastodon, but Bluesky is more mainstream and at least lets you view without an account and isn’t owned by an outright Nazi

They could post to Bluesky automatically post to Twitter as well, either through a script or an intern.
I don’t use twitter, but is there any evidence of organizations pointing to XCancel / Nitter in their decision to still post on it?
An organization who was serious about posting and knowing it was them would clave their own fediverse instance.
I mean, when you’re comparing it to a locked down mess of a social media site like Twitter, even that is really overkill. All a website would need to replicate that format is a collection of HTML-only webpages, or if you want to be fancy, an RSS feed.
As nice as a return to a more decentralized web experience would be, people have come to rely on the social platforms as a sort of info hub to have everything delivered regardless of device.
Does make me curious though about a site or maybe a self hosted software you could log into and have a stack of feeds all maintained there

I mean, does Twitter even do that well at this point? At the very least, it doesn’t work as well as an RSS feed.
A mastodon.social account with a green website link to the official page is already sufficient. Only the owner of said website can do that, that’s the way public people and companies are able to publicly verify the accounts authenticity.
It’s neither hard nor do we lack the management software for social media accounts supporting Fedi. Those companies just rely on falsified data telling them there’s no alternative to those big networks and vibes.
Who in the world needs an excuse to use a website bought by a facist?
