I live off espresso, weed and nicotine, and then I wonder why I don’t always feel good.

I did just buy some nicotine patches to try and quit the last one. Maybe fourth time’s the charm?

I managed a bit over 2 months without smoking once, I did cold turkey. Got hooked again after a stressful night in the ER where another patient waiting offered me a smoke.

Thanks for the encouragement! EDIT: And congrats on a year!

I’ve never been a smoker, but I feel like people should ask “do you smoke” or something first before offering anything. Maybe also there should be some kind of identifying thing to wear that says “I’m trying to quit” so people don’t even ask. It’s that easy spur-of-the-moment event that causes so many relapses. I’m sure most people have tried to quit and relapsed, so you’d think there’d be some empathy not offering to people so hastily.

If you say “I’m trying to quit” instead of “I don’t smoke” what are you even doing. Doesn’t matter if you used to smoke yesterday.

My wife was in the same boat as you, but then she found out she was pregnant and that worked for her. Hopefully she stays off it when the baby’s born.

Looks like you need to get pregnant.

Congratulations (assuming you both wanted it) and godspeed!

I think the pregnancy (if wanted) thing ‘helps’ in that you’ll have strong feelings to protect the developing fetus. Can’t guarantee it for all though and it’s not a solution, just a possible explanation. Hormones can be wack, yo.

Thank you! Yes, we’re both very happy. It wasn’t planned but we’re very excited nevertheless.

Yeah I agree. She’s been a different person since being pregnant but in a good way. She’s become very maternal, especially towards our cats. It’s very attractive. Plus she’s obviously very defensive about her belly, especially now that we’re nearing the end.

I’m not sure I quite understand your question, but if you’re asking about how she’s defensive over her belly, she’s a hospital nurse and has had to physically restrain patients who were going for her belly. She mostly works with dementia patients and they often times can get aggressive. She’s been punched in the face and breasts and other areas in order to avoid hurting her belly too. Sometimes you don’t have time to restrain someone and have to move to avoid getting hit, and sometimes that hit lands, just somewhere other than where they were aiming.

    100%

Double-whammy’d my appetite with blowing up my liver and losing my smell.

The only draw to eat is:

    - oh shit I’m shaking it’s been days

    - weed

I didn’t realize this was a thing until a couple of years ago. I thought I was just cold when it turns out it’s just my body telling me I’m hungry

I would be if the person I lived with did not constantly remind me to eat by cooking stuff that smells delicious.

I’m torn about it to be honest. I’d be way less fat and more attractive if I was left to “unhealthily” naturally skip meals. That said, home cooked food is tasty.

When I was younger I had a really fast metabolism, so it was very hard for me to gain weight. People always told me I was lucky, but I would explain that it comes at a price. If I skipped a meal, I would get the shakes and start to get a headache.
